York bands for hire

Our York party bands aim to cover a broad range of popular music genres, including Motown, rock and indie. This ensures that all guest’s musical tastes are covered and the dancefloor is never empty!

All our party bands provide everything they need to get your party started including amplifiers, mics, instruments, and a PA system.

Most bands will bring along stage and dancefloor lighting but check each band’s profile to find out exactly what they offer.

Typically our quote will include 2 x 60 minute sets (this can also be split into 3 x 40 minute sets) with one or two short breaks in between sets, during which the band will put on a playlist, to ensure you’re never in silence. Quotes also include an arrival from 5pm or 6pm to set up their equipment and do a quick sound-check, and all relevant certificates for your venue (eg. PLI and PAT).

Mostly of the time, yes. Our bands will always do everything they can to accommodate special requests such as first dance songs. Just ask us and we’ll run it past the band.

All bands listed on this page are intended for evening events where after-dinner dancing is a must. But we also have a range of acts suitable for afternoon receptions, cocktail parties and dinners, such as jazz bands, acoustic acts and steel bands.

York and the surrounding areas, with ruggedly romantic moors and imposing historic manors, make for an incredible wedding backdrop.

Our bands have played throughout York and Yorkshire including in Hull, Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Halifax, Batley, Dewsbury, Keighley, Castleford, Brighouse, Pudsey, Morley, Pontefract, Shipley, Bingley, Holmfirth, Normanton, Ossett, Yeadon, Rothwell.

Premier York venues include Thicket Priory, The Guildhall, The Grand, Aldby Park, Malmaison York and Hornington Manor.

Booking a local York band can reduce travel costs significantly (musicians not only charge for fuel, but the time they spend travelling as well). You’ll also save on expensive hotel costs, as most bands booked for evening events will request accommodation if travelling for more than 2 and a half hours to your venue each way.

More and more venues are installing sound limiters, which are designed to trip the power to the band when a certain threshold (in decibels) is breached. Thresholds set to 92dB or under are likely to cause problems for most bands.

Let us know if this is the case so we can suggest more suitable acts, such as bands using electric drums, or acoustic bands.
