Guide to booking wedding & function bands in Birmingham

What styles of music do your Birmingham wedding bands play?

Birmingham wedding bands usually perform a wide range of live music styles - from rock, pop and soul to funk and party anthems – so your reception will have something to get every guest dancing.

All line-ups include a lead vocalist and vary from compact 3-pieces right through to 8-piece show bands.

Hire a guitar-based band for up-tempo rock and indie anthems, or a band with keyboards and synths if you prefer 80s music or mainstream pop.

Bands with brass sections are ideal for funk, soul and Motown.

Can your bands learn a special song for our first dance?

Many Birmingham wedding bands can learn and perform your special first dance song live at your wedding reception, as long as you let them know well in advance so they can arrange it for their line-up.

Check the act’s profile to see what they can offer and if they can’t do it live, they could just play it through their PA system using Spotify or an mp3 player.

Will a Birmingham wedding band take requests?

Most Birmingham wedding bands are happy to take song requests and tailor their live set to your favourite tracks, especially if you’ve picked them ahead of time. While the band will do all they can to ensure your requests are played, they may need to switch things up as they go depending on audience response.

Rest assured, the band’s main focus will be on ensuring you and your guests have the best time and keep dancing all night long to the very best party songs.

Do Birmingham wedding bands bring their own sound and lighting equipment?

All our Birmingham wedding bands are fully self-contained with their own PA sound system, microphones, backline amplifiers and instruments – so you don’t need to hire separate equipment. This works really well for most marquee or indoor weddings.

Let us know if you're expecting more than 250 guests, so we can check whether the act’s system is large enough.

Most bands will also bring lighting for both the stage and dancefloor.

Check the act's individual profile for more details and optional add-ons to enhance the show!

What time will the band arrive and how long will it take to set up?

Our Birmingham wedding bands typically arrive at your venue from 5pm or 6pm and take 60 - 90 minutes to unload, set up and soundcheck their equipment to ensure the best performance possible.

It’s ideal if a room can be cleared whilst they do this, but it’s not essential, they can perform a silent “line-check” to test their levels if not.

The band will then get dressed, eat, and return at approximately 8pm to get your party started!

Many central Birmingham wedding venues will have parking restrictions, loading bays and lifts. Let the band know in advance what the set-up is at your venue so they can ensure a timely start.

Do your Birmingham wedding bands have insurance and PAT-tested equipment?

Yes, all of our Birmingham wedding bands are fully insured and have PAT-tested equipment.

Can bands perform at outdoor weddings?

Yes, many Birmingham wedding bands can perform at outdoor weddings and garden party wedding receptions, as long as there’s reliable cover and access to power for their sound and lighting equipment. If you’re considering an outdoor reception, let us know and we can discuss any specific requirements your band may have.

What areas in Birmingham do your wedding bands cover?

Our Birmingham wedding bands regularly perform at weddings and celebrations throughout Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, including Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall and surrounding towns and villages.

What happens if the band cancels or a musician is ill?

If a band member becomes unavailable before your wedding, the Birmingham wedding band will arrange a fully-rehearsed substitute musician, so your event goes ahead without compromise.
